In celebration of World Environment Day 2016, Ocean Africa Container Lines (OACL) proudly engaged in the sponsorship of the Maydon Wharf Clean-Up project.
World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
For OACL and eight other companies including Transnet National Ports Authority, the event was a great success with passionate volunteers cleaning up areas that were mapped.
The initiative undoubtedly sets a new standard of social responsibility in the Maydon Wharf precinct and sets a powerful example that will inspire other companies and organisations to partake in this venture.
