Grindrod intends to partner with Maersk to provide an end-to-end supply chain solution

Grindrod has agreed to merge the South African container logistics businesses of Grindrod Intermodal (GIM) and Ocean Africa Container Lines (OACL) with A. P. Moller Maersk’s (Maersk) inland container terminals. The partnership will offer customers seamless access to end-to-end supply-chain solutions and enhance global integrated logistics.

Appointed CEO, Grindrod Limited on 1 January 2023

Xolani joined Grindrod in 2013 and has progressed his career in various leadership roles. He has paved a clear strategy for the business and has rallied his teams to take the business to a new level.

 Before joining Grindrod, Xolani spent 12 years of his career in the mining sector working for Anglo American across the various roles in finance, procurement, business and commodity performance analysis, and greenfield project implementation in its corporate offices and operations in South Africa, Botswana and the UK. He holds a chartered accountancy qualification and completed his Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School in 2021.

Grindrod’s drybulk terminal in the Port of Maputo - a gateway to world trade

Grindrod’s Matola terminal in Maputo received a second train from Botswana this weekend, the 15th of May 2022, and successfully discharged 50 wagons using the terminal’s tipplers.

The first train arrived on the 26th of April 2022, marking a significant milestone for Grindrod’s drybulk terminal in the main Port of Maputo, Mozambique.

Cheryl Carolus was elected the new Chair of Grindrod Limited

Following Grindrod's AGM on 3 June 2022, Mike Hankinson retired as director and Chairman of the Board of Grindrod Limited. Mike has handed over the torch to Cheryl, who was appointed to the board of Grindrod as an independent non-executive director effective from 01 October 2021.
