Grindrod Logistics Africa (GLA) is pleased to announce that their first rail delivery arrived successfully in Lusaka on 7 September 2016. The train departed from the ArcelorMittal Newcastle Plant on 27 August and went on a journey across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia to reach Lusaka approximately 1,800 kilometres later.
GLA have been appointed to manage the handling, storage and delivery from the Lusaka Rail Siding to the KGL Project site and ArcelorMittal South Africa have provisionally extended the scope to include the establishment of a distribution centre in Lusaka. Thanks to the collaborated efforts of Transnet Freight Rail, BBR and Zambian Railways, this project was made possible and the journey completed successfully.
