OACL awarded a new contract

Ocean Africa Container Lines (OACL) have been shipping Tongaat Hulett’s sugar for many years and have established a sound working relationship over this period. In July 2015, the shipping contract was extended to include warehousing and distribution.

The Methven warehouse at Maydon Wharf where fertilizer was previously stored was upgraded to a food-grade facility, and together with the facility at PX in South Coast Road, provided the necessary warehousing capacity to handle Tongaat Hulett’s requirements.

In October 2016, OACL acquired a new facility in South Coast Road. All Tongaat Hulett cargo will now be consolidated and stored at this state-of-the-art warehouse with the capacity to store approximately 50,000 tonnes of cargo at any one time.

The facility also comprises a 4,000 sqm cold room as well as a 15,000 sqm yard area which is currently being upgraded for container storage.

OACL plans on expanding its service offering at the Methven Road warehouse to other food-related products.
