Grindrod is delighted to announce the appointment of Kwazi Mabaso as Chief Executive Officer – Grindrod Terminals with effect from 1 April 2023. Kwazi will lead the Terminals business, taking over from Pieter Venter who has over the last 24 years has been instrumental to the success of Grindrod.
Kwazi is a business leader, with more than 17 years of experience in mining and logistics. He joins us after spending the last ten years with Transnet, from his most recent position as Managing Executive of the Richards Bay Terminals. His tenure at Transnet spans across multiple businesses including NATCOR, Durban Container terminal, Manganese Corridor, and the North-East corridor. Having started his career at Goldfields Limited, Kwazi then assumed the role of Distribution Manager and National Resource Planning Manager at ABI.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from GIBS University of Pretoria and currently completing his MBA.
Kwazi is no stranger to embracing leadership and operational excellence with a customer centric approach and brings with him invaluable insights. He will no doubt be an asset in fulfilling our purpose and strategy, as we continue to grow and continually strive to deliver innovative solutions to exceed our customers’ expectations.
