Cockett Group participates in industry conferences

The India Tanker Shipping & Trade Summit 2018 took place on 2 February 2018 and received excellent attendance. Cockett Group joined various Indian charterers, vessel owners, importers, exporters, shipping agents, Government officials and employees from many oil organisations, at the event.

One of the key highlights of the summit was the presence of a government representative, Mr Pradeep Rawat, Chairman of the National Shipping Board. The summit panel consisted of professionals from the shipping sector as well as a representative from the bunker industry. They discussed the challenges faced by these industries. Some of the challenges discussed and improvements suggested by the Chairman of the National Shipping Board, are to be taken up with the government. The recommendations from the summit included: implementing zero GST; permitting OPL supplies; facilitating floating storage and implementing policies and procedures for bunkering.

The chairman also expressed the government’s inclination to promote shipping and bunkering in India. Specific topics of interest to Cockett India were the development of various ports under the government’s Sagarmala Initiative and the readiness of ship owners to implement the 0.5% global sulphur limit for fuel, as set out by the IMO.

As Cockett Group India was a sponsor of the India Tanker Shipping & Trade Summit 2018, they gained excellent exposure and were able to strengthen their reputation further.

Cockett Foundation
Cockett Foundation’s focus is to add value, make a difference, have impact and create cohesion in the arena of educational and environmental initiatives through fund raising, sponsorship and team-building activities.
On 16 February 2018, Dubai Cares organised a “Walk for Education”. This was a wonderful opportunity for Cockett headquarters to participate in and support a great cause. The 3km “Walk for Education” was organised in solidarity with millions of children in developing countries who walk long distances daily to school. The response was great with employees joining in alongside their partners and children. Although it meant an early start on a weekend, it was an event worth attending. We wish to thank everyone for supporting Dubai Cares and Cockett Foundation.
