Grindrod Bank is delighted to be back as title sponsor for Berg & Bush 2017, KwaZulu-Natal’s must-do event for both professional and amateur mountain biking enthusiasts.
The race showcases some of the most spectacular mountain bike trails in the country, encouraging people of all ages to lead an active lifestyle through the exciting sport of mountain biking. Furthermore, Berg & Bush seeks to meaningfully and sustainably uplift the local community.

The event comprises three races – the Descent, Great Trek and 2-Day – and offers some 130km of challenging single track through scenic mountain and bushveld countryside. The route varies each year and this year will kick off with the Descent, starting at the border post at the top of the Drakensberg mountains on 6 October. Pondo Pedal
One of the favourite cycling events on the Grindrod Bank calendar, for both customers and staff, is definitely the Pondo Pedal.
The exciting three-day Grindrod Bank Umngazi Pondo Pedal MTB Challenge takes place on the breathtakingly beautiful Wild Coast from 7th - 11th June 2017. Set over three days, competitors will endure between 35 and 40km of varied terrain each day, starting and finishing at Umngazi River Bungalows & Spa.
“The focus of the event is not only an opportunity to enjoy the legendary hospitality of Umngazi and cycle one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, but also to assist in making a difference to the local community’s neediest learners,” says race organiser Damian Bradley from B-Active.
