Thabethe Mkhokhiswa – 40 years
Thabethe Mkhokhiswa joined Unicorn Lines in March 1977 as a Trainee Steward on board mv Gouritz. He had previously been a domestic helper.
In 1980 he was promoted to Steward. After a period of training, he was promoted to Cook in 1991 and retired in March 2017, his last assignment being on board mv Breede.
Thabethe is married to Roselyn and they have three well-educated children working in nursing, human resources and music. Thabethe continues to use his cooking skills, as he is assisting his wife in her catering business during his retirement years.
