Grindrod improves ESG rating

Grindrod’s latest ESG rating according to the FTSE/JSE responsible investment index is 3.6 out of a possible 5 and Grindrod has scored 89% in a super sector relative score. This means that Grindrod’s ESG rating is in the top 11% of Industrial Goods & Services companies in developed markets. The score of 3.6 is a notable improvement from the 3.3 rating of last year.

In 2015, the JSE partnered with global index provider FTSE Russell to create the FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Index and the FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment Top 30 Index. The FTSE/JSE ratings methodology includes in excess of 300 indicators in 14 themes. The indices provide a snapshot of a company’s transparency and management of ESG matters relevant to their business activities. This snapshot is not only important to investors but also potential customers and other stakeholders.
