Last week, in a formal handover, Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) delivered electro-surgical equipment to the gastroenterology unit of the Central Hospital of Maputo. This device will assist many patients requiring surgery related to gastrointestinal complications.

This is the first public healthcare unit with equipment of this kind, and it will benefit 10 patients per week, coming from all provinces of Mozambique. Prior to having this equipment, a simple haemorrhage in the stomach or intestine could not be properly treated, and auxiliary treatments were the only option. It is, therefore, with honour that MPDC offered this equipment to the Central Hospital, knowing the impact that it will have on the lives of many Mozambicans.
