Grindrod Intermodal (GIM) expanded its footprint in Port Elizabeth with the establishment of a 25 000 m² site in Burman Road, Deal Party, earlier this year. The establishment of the new facility has allowed for growth and promoted inter-group synergies with Rohlig Grindrod.
The facility includes a 5 500m² warehouse where, amongst other cargoes, components for the automotive industry are stored. For these components, Rohlig-Grindrod controls the clearing and forwarding, ex Europe. GIM then operates the logistics leg from the local port to the warehouse, destuffs containers on-site, picks components for the production line on request and, dispatches accordingly.
This sector is operational under the Level 4 restrictions.
