Successful trial shipment through Walvis Bay

On 1 May 2015, Walvis Bay Bulk Terminals (WBBT) completed the first-ever lithium ore export consignment on behalf of Desert Lion Energy Inc. (TSXV: DLI), namely 30,321 tonnes of lithium concentrate bound for the company’s off-take partner, Jiangxi Jinhui Lithium Co. Limited’s (“Jinhui”), lithium carbonate conversion plant located in Yichuan, China.
 
Loading commenced at 16h00 on 24 April 2018 and completed at 0300 on 1 May 2018 (total loading time of 6 days 11 hours) for the 30 321-tonne parcel. In addition, WBBT has concluded the contracting of two additional 30 000-tonne consignments for the next six months prior to the construction of Desert Lion’s Phase 1 floatation plant with commissioning expected by the end of Q3 2018.
