The Hai Yang Shi You 278 heavy lift vessel carrying the oil drill rig Nan Hai Da Hau called in Durban for bunkers on the 12 May 2017.
The Fumana, in atrocious weather, went alongside and provided her with 1400 ton bunker stem. Bunkering at 250 tons per hour the delivery took just under 6 hours. The design of heavy lift ships and the positioning of their bunker ports makes coming alongside, tying up to, and bunkering these heavy lift ships a complex task especially when they are carrying unusual cargo.
