Grindrod Shipping received two awards at the annual MPA Seminar for Shipowners, held at the Amara Hotel in Singapore on 17 November.
The first one was the Green Ship Award for Grindrod Shipping’s bulk carrier IVS SWINLEY FOREST.
The award is presented to shipping companies with the most environmentally friendly ships which meet MPA criteria in terms of design, systems and equipment fitted.
Ships built and delivered in 2017 qualify for the award. The award is intended to encourage shipping companies to reduce their carbon footprint.
Grindrod Shipping also received the award for Excellence in Manpower Training and Development. The award was in recognition of Grindrod Shipping’s commitment to the nurturing, grooming and training of people in Singapore, and delivering excellence in training and thereby contributing to the development of maritime manpower in Singapore.
