Grindrod Bank has been involved with the Hilton Arts Festival for a number of years as sponsors of the main theatre, aptly named the Grindrod Bank Theatre. “We were delighted that Grindrod Bank was invited to participate again this year at this prestigious event,” said Managing Director David Polkinghorne. “As the highlight on our events calendar, the festival is a must- do experience for both serious and novice theatre-goers alike. It showcases some of the most spectacular examples of artistic and dramatic talent that the South African theatre scene has to offer. The event encourages people of all ages to come out and enjoy the arts in a family-friendly atmosphere. Furthermore, the Hilton Arts Festival seeks to educate and inspire the youth through its Jongosi initiative.”
For the third year running Grindrod Bank has produced the ‘On the Couch’ sessions, offering our guests an opportunity to hear behind-the-scene revelations about some of the performances being showcased at the festival. “This informal Q&A sitting with performers and directors offers insight into their theatrical processes and has become a firm favourite of our client hospitality tent,” said Marketing Manager Sarah Freestone. “We were very privileged this year to have some of South Africa’s theatre elite with the likes of Ismail Mahomed, Dr John Kani, Mannie Manim, Fiona Ramsay and Graham Weir up ‘on the couch’.”
From humble beginnings in 1993, the Hilton Arts Festival can now rightly claim to be one of the arts community’s most anticipated events.
