Grindrod in Mozambique celebrated National Women’s Day

To celebrate National Women’s Day in Mozambique (7 April 2024) and to honour the wonderful women working for Grindrod in Nacala, the HR team organised a celebratory function at Thamole Lodge at Nacala-Porto.

Mrs. Eunice Comé, a motivational speaker from Social Activist, gave an interesting talk about women in the workplace and provided useful tips on managing work life balance.

The talk was followed by delicious cocktail snacks, song and dance. All the ladies wore brightly printed (shweshwe) garments designed and made by Capulana. The Shweshwe print is a symbol of cultural heritage.

A wonderful day was had by all.

Mozambican Women’s Day is celebrated throughout Mozambique, on April 7th to commemorate the death of Josina Machel (1945-1971), a national heroine and wife of Samora Machel (1933-1986), she was one of the many Mozambican women who fought for the Country independence, thus becoming an example and inspiration for the Mozambican women’s movement.
