Introducing Jose, the incredible head builder and project manager for the Sibakussi Community Centre Building Project. With sponsorship from Grindrod, in collaboration with F&H Consultoria and the Sibakussi Community, this project is making great progress. Born and raised in the area, Jose's connection to the community runs deep—his family still resides there. Despite not having received a formal education, Jose's brilliant mind and passion for learning have made up for it. He has been an essential part of this project since the beginning and takes immense pride in giving back to his community. Reflecting on his childhood during the civil war, Jose remembers his journey to safety and the hardships he endured. From selling charcoal to making a living from fishing and cutting reeds, he never stopped seeking ways to gain knowledge. Through determination, he learned bricklaying and expanded his skills to become an excavator and TLB operator, as well as a welder. Today, all of Jose's experiences come together as he works on his own small project. His message to young people is simple but powerful: "Keep learning and stay motivated, and your life will gradually improve. Continually strengthen your mind and body."
