“Each person in the team understands what is required and together reached the incredible milestone of loading and transporting one million tonnes of Iron Ore from Tonkolili Mine to Pepel Port within 6-months,” said Andrew Thomas, CEO of Grindrod Rail.
One million tonnes equate to loading 14,285 wagons (70 tonnes per wagon), running 150 trains (some haul 90 wagons while others haul 112 wagons), over a cumulative distance of 5,5 million kilometres.
Congratulations to the Grindrod Rail team in Sierra Leone for pushing beyond impossible to meet their customers' expectations.
