Grindrod Intermodal (GI) has developed a concept to prepare reefer containers 4 high for export packing utilising a purpose engineered scissor lift that is fully fitted to allow for safe working at heights.
Traditionally, reefer containers were prepared and inspected on the ground or at best, 2 high. Utilising the new concept, allows GI to improve the productivity on reefer preparation within a smaller footprint.
This operation has been tested at GI Umlazi during the 2020 reefer season and has proved to be successful. Based on this, it will be rolled out to other GI facilities in the near future.”
