After 10 years at Grindrod and over four years as Chief Executive of Freight Services, Bongiwe will be embarking on the next chapter in her career. Bongiwe will be relocating to Cape Town and has accepted the position of CFO of The Foschini Group from 14 January 2019.
Bongiwe commenced her career at Grindrod as the CFO for the Freight Services division after many years with Anglo American both overseas and in South Africa. Bongiwe was instrumental in drawing together the financial and management reporting of the division before moving to the group office as the Shared Services executive with responsibility for inter alia human resources and information technology.
In 2014 Bongiwe agreed to take over the responsibility as CEO of the Freight Services division stepping into the big shoes of Dave Rennie.
Significant work has been done to reshape the Grindrod Freight Services business under her leadership, including the appointment of key management and developing key customer and stakeholder relationships.
Bongiwe leaves a very dedicated team of Divisional CEO’s, each of whom play an integral role in the reshaping of Freight Services and who are all intimately involved in the everyday running of the businesses.
