The Khula Nathi Talent Development Programme was initiated to create a pipeline for talent development and succession planning within Röhlig-Grindrod. The aim is to develop and promote from within the organisation.
The launch took place on 18 November 2016, with six study blocks over a nine-month period. The study blocks focused on the development of the individual while exposing them to all aspects of the business. The coaching and mentorship programmes provided support and guidance to the delegates, as they progressed through the very challenging programme.
The delegates were divided into three teams, namely:  The Transformers, Dynamites, and Masakhane (which is an Nguni word meaning, "let's build together").
Each team had an Action Learning Project (ALP) to scope, research, test and implement within the business. The projects were: distribution through technology, client centricity and the feasibility of a loyalty programme.
The teams presented their final projects to the Executive team at their graduation which took place at the ORT Intercontinental on 22 September.
The delegates found the programme challenging yet rewarding, and the Executive team was very impressed with the growth of the individuals.
The teams have now been tasked to create a business plan for their projects so that the projects can be fully implemented within the business.
