THE GRINDROD MAPUTO CAR TERMINAL CAME INTO OPERATION IN NOVEMBER 2007 WITH AN INITIAL CAPACITY TO PARK ABOUT 1 455 CARS AND AN ANNUAL THROUGHPUT CAPACITY OF 52 000 CARS. THE TERMINAL HAS SINCE EXPANDED TO 4 126 PARKING BAYS WITH A THROUGHPUT CAPACITY OF 115 000 CARS PER ANNUM. THE EXPANDED TERMINAL SPANS AN AREA OF 85 109M².
CAR TERMINAL
MCTL is privately owned and is a transshipment hub for the East and West coast of Africa and a distribution hub locally and internationally. Services include terminal handling, stevedoring, tallying, inspection and vehicle surveys, preservation and other value-added services.
MCTL operates to the specific standards and requirements of OEMs, shipping lines, and customers, has fully documented standard operating procedures and is ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 accredited and Maputo Port ISPS compliant.
Höegh Autoliners, (a shareholder in the terminal), NYK, Massina, WWL, Eukor, Kline, Glovis and MOL, are some of the car carrying shipping lines that call at the port.

15 road carrier bays
28 inspection bays
Excess of 3 berths
4 automated wash bays
